LESGO Hosts Joint Supervisory Visit with State Partners to Review Flood Response Efforts in Shuwa Development Area
In a bid to enhance coordination and ensure accountability in our flood response efforts, the Grassroot Life Savings Outreach – LESGO recently organized a Joint Supervisory Visit with key state partners in Shuwa Development Area, located in Madagali LGA. This visit formed part of a 3-month flood response initiative supported by the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Rapid Response Fund (RRF), aimed at addressing the severe impacts of recent floods on local communities.
Representatives from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Water Resources, Reconstruction, Rehabilitation Resettlement, and Humanitarian Services (RRRHS), the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) joined us from Yola, traveling to the Shuwa Development Area. Their visit included an opportunity to engage directly with the LESGO’s project team, observe ongoing activities, and assess the flood-damaged Shuwa bridge, a critical structure affecting the movement and accessibility within the region.
During an interactive session, state partners provided valuable feedback based on their assessment and interaction with the community and project team. They highlighted the concentration of resources and aid in Shuwa and recommended expanding the project’s scope to include additional affected areas, such as Kirchinga and Pallam. This recommendation aims to ensure equitable distribution of aid and reduce the risk of duplicating resources in a single location.
The Joint Supervisory Visit by state partners is a vital monthly activity in our RRF project, serving as both an accountability measure and a feedback mechanism. By engaging state representatives regularly, LESGO fosters transparency and facilitates a dynamic flow of information, enabling project adjustments based on real-time observations and community needs. This collaboration is crucial for identifying on-ground challenges, improving project strategies, and ensuring our interventions reach those who need them most.
LESGO remains committed to providing effective, inclusive, and coordinated responses to disaster-affected areas. With ongoing input from state partners, we will continue adapting our approach to maximize the impact of our flood response efforts across Madagali LGA. Expanding the reach to underserved areas aligns with our mission of equitable resource distribution and strengthens our resolve to build resilient communities.
As we move forward, LESGO will continue to work alongside state partners, implementing agencies, and the communities themselves to develop sustainable solutions that reduce vulnerabilities and promote recovery. This Joint Supervisory Visit represents a step towards a more accountable, community-centered approach to humanitarian aid.
Together, we’re fostering resilience, accountability, and a brighter future for all those affected by the floods in Madagali LGA.
