LESGO Participates in High-Level Consultation on Climate-Resilient Faecal Sludge Management in Adamawa State
Last week, our Program Manager proudly represented Grassroot Life Saving Outreach (LESGO) at a key stakeholder consultation workshop hosted by the Adamawa State Government, in collaboration with UNICEF and The Netherlands Government.
The workshop brought together policymakers, technical experts, WASH practitioners, and development partners to discuss the development of a climate-resilient faecal sludge management (FSM) strategy and operative guidelines for Adamawa State.
Strengthening WASH Systems Through Collaboration
As climate change intensifies environmental and public health challenges, particularly in vulnerable communities, the need for sustainable and resilient sanitation systems has never been more urgent.
The consultation provided a platform for stakeholders to:
Assess the current faecal sludge management situation in the state
Identify operational gaps and emerging climate-related risks
Share experiences and best practices from ongoing interventions
Co-create a robust, context-specific strategy for improved sanitation services
Our Program Manager actively engaged in group discussions, contributed insights from LESGO’s field experience, and collaborated with partners on practical solutions that can improve public health and protect the environment.
Toward a Climate-Resilient Sanitation Future
Faecal sludge management plays a critical role in preventing disease outbreaks, reducing environmental pollution, and promoting safer communities. A climate-resilient FSM strategy ensures that sanitation systems remain effective despite changing weather patterns, flooding, population growth, and infrastructure challenges.
By participating in this workshop, LESGO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government-led systems strengthening and contributing to WASH interventions that promote dignity, safety, and healthier living conditions for all.
Partnerships That Drive Impact
We appreciate the leadership of the Adamawa State Government, as well as the technical guidance and support from UNICEF and The Netherlands Government, for facilitating this important dialogue.
Collaborative platforms like this ensure that all voices; government, communities, and implementing partners—are aligned toward a common goal: building a more resilient and inclusive WASH sector in Adamawa State.
LESGO remains dedicated to advancing solutions that protect public health, empower communities, and strengthen resilience in the face of climate change.
