LESGO Conducts Bank ATM Card Distribution and Account Opening for Beneficiaries in Girei LGA of Adamawa State.

Last week, our team took another important step in supporting communities affected by recent floods through our Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) project, generously funded by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

To ensure beneficiaries can access assistance securely and conveniently, we conducted a bank account opening and ATM card distribution exercise in collaboration with Moniepoint, our trusted financial service provider for this intervention.

Strengthening Access to Humanitarian Support

The MPCA project is designed to provide vulnerable households with the flexibility to meet their most urgent needs — whether for food, shelter, healthcare, or education. But before cash transfers can begin, it is essential that beneficiaries have safe, reliable, and dignified access to the financial system.

Through this exercise, beneficiaries not only received bank accounts and ATM cards but were also introduced to basic financial services. This approach promotes financial inclusion, enabling families to participate more actively in the economy while preparing them to access the cash assistance that will soon follow.

The successful roll-out of this activity was made possible through our partnership with Moniepoint, who served as the financial service provider for this project. Their expertise ensured a smooth, transparent, and efficient process, giving beneficiaries confidence that their funds will be safe and accessible once transfers commence.

Partnerships like these are critical to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and sustainable community resilience. By working together, we are not only delivering immediate support but also laying the foundation for long-term empowerment.

The recent floods disrupted livelihoods, destroyed homes, and pushed already vulnerable families deeper into crisis. The MPCA project is a timely intervention that aims to reduce the impact of the disaster by helping households meet urgent needs while restoring a sense of dignity and choice.

The account opening and ATM card distribution are key milestones in our commitment to accountability and preparedness. With this infrastructure in place, we are better positioned to deliver life-saving cash assistance in a way that is both transparent and efficient.

We are deeply grateful to OCHA, the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund, and Moniepoint for their continued support and collaboration. Together, we remain committed to improving lives, empowering communities, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward recovery.
