LESGO Supports The Fight Against Scabies Outbreak in Adamawa State
In response to the scabies outbreak in Adamawa State, Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach (LESGO) last week, donated a consignment of essential drugs to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Yola, to strengthen the state’s public health response and support effective treatment and containment efforts.
Scabies, a highly contagious skin disease caused by mites, has affected several communities across the state, creating an urgent need for coordinated response and access to treatment. The drugs provided by LESGO will help health officials and frontline responders deliver timely care to affected individuals and curb the spread of infection.
Speaking on the need for this intervention, the program Manager, Mr. James Siggi, ably represented by the Health Officer has emphasized that;
“As an organization, our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing healthcare,”. “By supporting the Emergency Operations Centre and the Adamawa State Ministry of Health, we are helping to restore health, dignity, and hope to affected communities.”
The intervention is part of LESGO’s broader commitment to strengthening community health systems, improving access to primary healthcare, and supporting state-led outbreak response initiatives.
Through this contribution, LESGO continues to demonstrate its role as a trusted partner in emergency disease response and public health improvement in Adamawa State. By working collaboratively with government agencies and health partners, LESGO aims to reduce preventable illnesses, protect vulnerable populations, and build stronger, healthier communities.
As the scabies outbreak response continues, LESGO reaffirms its dedication to promoting public health, supporting coordinated emergency action, and ensuring that lifesaving assistance reaches those who need it most.
